Let's Get to Know Principal Manley!
By Shravya Ilag
Q. How do you like our school thus far?
A.I LOVE IT! Our staff is the best. Everyone is very positive and is so passionate about helping all of you, students learn. I also have enjoyed meeting all of the students I have met. I love being a Wildcat! Q. What are your top three things you would like for students to follow? A.Well, we have a new mantra that we are going to be sharing soon with students. We want all Wildcats to be H.E.R.O.E.S which you will all learn about later but I am always happy when students follow their interests, have fun, and are respectful/honest. That’s four but who's counting? Q. What are your hobbies? A. I love hiking and camping. Aside from that, I like to read and hang out at home. Q. What is your opinion about online school? A. It provided an opportunity for schools to completely shift and learn about the use of technology in education. It has been amazing to watch how our teachers have adapted to continue to provide great lessons and how you, students have also adapted to be more responsible for your own learning. Q. What are the challenges you faced during online school? A. I have had similar challenges that we have all faced. Internet issues, glitchy Zoom sessions, missing social interactions and getting tired from staring at a screen. Q. How is school now different from when you were in school? A. When I was in school we spent a lot of time doing projects, writing business plans, spending a week pretending we were on the Oregon Trail. With performance tasks and project-based learning, we are incorporating a lot of that now but aside from the huge technological gains, a lot of the main aspects of school are similar, just more developed. Q. Are you excited for all the students to come to school? If so, what are you most excited about? A. YESSSS!!!!!!!!!! Just a little. I miss the students. You are why I do this job. I love to interact, see how you are doing, tell jokes, and help you achieve your goals and exceed your own expectations for yourself. Q. What is your favorite color? A. Blue! Q. What is your favorite food? A. I love Mexican food and many times I will eat too much chips and salsa before the main course and be too stuffed for the main dish. Q. What is your favorite book? A. My favorite book that I read with my class as a teacher was The Hunger Games. My favorite book that I read is the Bible. Q. Where is your favorite place to go? A. We have a cabin in South Lake Tahoe and we like to go there often. Tahoe is my home away from home and I just love to be in the mountains, hiking. Q. What is one piece of advice you would give to students about how to be successful learners? A. Work ethic. It’s easier to do it right the first time and spend time to do it right, then to have to redo it or relearn it because you didn’t put all your effort into it in the beginning. Q. Which character counts trait do you treasure most? A. Trustworthiness. Trust is huge and being honest builds that trustworthiness. It’s important to always be honest, be honest when you don’t know something, own our mistakes so we can learn from them. Being trustworthy lets others know they can count on us. Q. When you were young did you ever want to be something other than a school principal? A. I always wanted to be in education but for a while, I thought about being a lawyer or doing something in politics. Ultimately, I just have too much fun teaching and working with students to do anything else. Q. Do you think you might want to move into another role in the future or stay as Principal? A. I love being a Principal. I get to visit different classrooms, go to every recess, and help keep our school the best school around. Maybe in the future I will change my mind but I just love being on a school campus and working with teachers, staff, and students to make school fun and enjoyable for everyone. |

The difference between school and life is:
School teaches us a lesson and then tests us. Life gives us a test and we learn a lesson from that. |

Number 5 - Room Renovation
